The famous “kékszalag” sailing race is having a long history and tradition since 1934. You can find tons of publications and photos about the race, the ships, this is not my intention to compete with all the professionals. What I want to show you, a sort of a different point of view. I took some shots during the night when the vast majority of ships were sailing in the middle section of the lake. I was up in the high bank of Földvár and had a spectacular view in front of me. The moon was rising high, the lake was full of the flickering navigation lights of the racing boats.
Here are pictures where you can see what I’ve just mentioned up above. You have to know, that green and red navigation lights are on the right and on the left sides of the boats in sequence. So from this angle from which the photograph was taken, red lights mean ships sailing west-bound, whilst the green ones are having east-bound. in this 2020 year wind conditions were very light, all traditional boats have had a nightmare, at least of speed. This is my opinion but read after this if you are more interested. Since we have the new generation class, catamarans, and trimarans, they can sail very well in light conditions. So you can be sure you see green lights on the photos, are one of the leaders sailing with a catamaran.
Here is another one
I could not resist turning around and make a shot of the lookout tower with its night lights
The last photo I’d like to show is the moonset, or close to moonset at 1.38 am. I had to take it in time otherwise the moon would have sinked behind the trees … I like the orangish color she showed while settling down
